Radar Set AN/APR-5 and AN/APR-5A was designed for aircraft installations and is intended to detect radar signals transmitted within its frequency range. The received signals are prented aurally and visually by means of a headset and panoramic receiver for the determination of frequency and for significant signal characteristics. The equipment is operated from its front panel and no provisin is made for remote control. The Radar Set AN/APR-5 and AN/APR-5A can monitoring the radar frequency bands from 1000 magacycles to 3050 megacycles on the fundamental of the oscillator and from 3000 to 6000 megacycles on the second armonic. It may operate in conjunction with Radar Indicator Assembly AN/APA-6 or AN/APA-6A and Panoramic Receiver AN/APA-11. Radar Set AN/APR-5 and AN/APR-5A receives signals originating within a radius of approximately 50 miles when the equipment is operated at altitudes in excess of 5000 feet. It is designed to operate satisfactorily at any altitude up to 40000feet and at temperatures ranging from -55 degrees centigrade ( -67°F ) to +64 degrees centigrade ( +147°F ).
